Hello, I am Sannaz

I am a certified full-spectrum birth and postpartum doula serving families across the San Francisco and East Bay Area. My work is rooted in a deep commitment to reproductive health, bodily autonomy, and the belief that every family deserves compassionate, individualized, evidence-based, and informed birth and postpartum support.

Alongside my doula practice, I have spent more than 14 years working in perinatal clinical research. I completed graduate studies in clinical psychology and anthropology, focusing on the relationship between physiologic birth, human evolution, and the transformative transitions that shape the reproductive life cycle. This academic and professional background allows me to bridge research-based knowledge with grounded, heart-centered care.

Since 2015, I have had the honor of walking alongside families through a wide range of birth and postpartum journeys. My practice integrates trauma-informed care—including extensive support navigating the NICU and the emotional landscape of high-risk pregnancies or complex genetic diagnoses—respectful communication, and collaborative partnership with both medical and community providers. I am especially passionate about helping clients prepare for labor physiologically, supporting families to labor at home as long as safely possible, and advocating for supported decision-making within hospital systems.

My work extends beyond the birth room: I also provides thoughtful postpartum care, planning support, and anticipatory guidance that helps families enter the early weeks with steadiness and connection. I remain committed to ongoing learning and maintains strong relationships with a wide network of doulas, midwives, and complementary practitioners to ensure her clients are well supported from pregnancy through the postpartum period.

I also teach prenatal yoga and find joy in knitting and fiber arts. I am the proud mother of a preemie, a first-generation Iranian American, and am grateful to live and build community in the Bay Area.
