Becoming a parent is tender, transformative, and often complex—especially while navigating the layered experience of living in the diaspora. Navigating Postpartum in the Diaspora is a 6-week support circle designed for birth parents who hold diasporic identities and want a compassionate, non-judgmental community to lean into during the postpartum journey.
Together, we will cultivate a space that honors both the joys and challenges of parenting within systems that often lead to cultural suppression, dismissal, or the criminalization our cultures. We will explore how to nurture our children while carrying our ancestral wisdom, our grief, and our resistance in a world shaped by ongoing injustice.
Through shared reflection, story-holding, journaling, and cultural reclamation, each session will center on:
- Building connection and solidarity with other birth parents navigating the diaspora
- Honoring grief, resilience, and joy in parenting amidst systemic injustice and global genocide
- Reclaiming cultural practices that sustain and ground us in postpartum
- Creating space for both vulnerability and strength
Space is limited to 6-8 birth parents to keep the circle intimate and supportive.
